Amsterdam Airport Bus
Amsterdam Airport is served by direct bus lines connected to surrounding cities and vicinities.
Bus is without a doubt an economical and reliable mean of transportation for travelers to and from Schiphol Airport. Even so, if you travel with a lot of luggage it may be a little inconvenient.
Amsterdam Airport Express Bus is the most recommended option.
There are city and regional bus lines and also special shuttle buses that you can take to your hotel.
Amsterdam Airport Express (Bus 397)
This is for sure the best route to take from Amsterdam Airport.
By this bus route passengers can get fast and straight to Amsterdam, since it is the Airport Express.
Get by this bus to Museumplein, Rijksmuseum or Leidseplein. This service does not go to Amsterdam Central station.
Please note that in the past, this bus line was called Bus 197.
Stops
Amsterdam Airport Express (Bus 397) stops at:
- Museumplein (28 minutes ride)
- Rijksmuseum (32 minutes)
- Leidseplein (34 minutes)
- Busstation Elandsgracht (38 minutes)
Many hotels and other accommodations are within a walking distance of these stops.
If needed, at each of these stops you can transfer to nearby trams or taxis.
Schedule
The service departs every 7-8 minutes to downtown.
Total trip time is about 30 minutes.

Night Bus Amsterdam Airport Express (N97)
It is exactly the same route but in a nightly schedule.
Price is also the same.

Get by this bus line to Sloterdijk Train Station.
Once there it is easy to get to Amsterdam Central Station by bus or train.
Schedule
Service hours are from 05:25 am to 01:09 am.
Travel time is 41 minutes.

Single ticket fare is 2.90 €

Hotel Shuttles
Schiphol Hotel Shuttles are an easy and comfortable airport shuttle service to and from the Schiphol Airport and your hotel, offering a cheaper alternative to taxi and provide door-to-door services.
It is recommend to first ask your hotel if they offer a complimentary airport shuttle service.
Schedule
Buses run every 10 minutes between 6:00 am and 9:00 pm from the platforms outside the main entrance to the arrivals and train station level.
Travel time varies as there are other passengers at the Shuttle too but they promise to not take more than 30 minutes.
Fares
A single journey costs 13.50 € for an adult and 6.25 € for children.
Location
Bus stops are located outside Schiphol Plaza.
Each bus line and service stops at different platforms.
OV-chip card system
Aside of paper tickets, the OV-chip card system is widely accepted by travelling by either train, bus, tram or metro.
It consists of refundable cards, suitable for those passengers planning to use public transportation more than once.
There are several type of OV-chip cards: Personal, Anonymous, Single use and Business.
Please, bear in mind that you need to check-in and check-out the card when travelling by just swiping your card at the yellow card readers.
